ARTE RUPESTRE NO CONCELHO DE AVIS
ANÁLISE PRELIMINAR DA DISTRIBUIÇÃO DAS GRAVURAS RUPESTRES NO CONTEXTO DO POVOAMENTO MEGALÍTICO

Resumo:
Os trabalhos desenvolvidos desde 2005 vieram confirmar a existência de um conjunto significativo de gravuras rupestres em Avis. As rochas gravadas poderão ser enquadradas na ocupação pré-histórica do concelho, evidente a partir da convergência espacial com os restantes sítios pré-históricos, em particular com as estruturas megalíticas. As ocorrências registadas constituem novos dados e motivações que contribuem para o estudo da arte rupestre na região do Alto Alentejo, auxiliando na compreensão das dinâmicas do povoamento durante a pré-história recente. Apresenta-se uma análise preliminar da distribuição das gravuras rupestres no contexto do povoamento megalítico do concelho de Avis efetuada no âmbito do projeto “Território e espaços de morte na Pré-História Recente. Contributo para uma nova leitura do povoamento megalítico no concelho de Avis - TEMPH”, evidenciando-se a importância da identificação destas realidades, mesmo em zonas consideradas com carência e ausência de informação, assim como as perspetivas para a continuação do seu estudo.
Abstract:
The work being developed since 2005, has confirmed the existence of a significant number of engraved rocks in Avis.
The rock engravings can be frameworked into the prehistoric occupation of the municipality, this is evident from the spatial convergence with the other prehistoric sites, in particular with the megalithic structures.
The occurrences registered constitute new data and motivation that will contribute to the study of rock art in the region of Alto Alentejo, aiding in understanding the dynamics of the settlement during the recent prehistory.
Presented here is a preliminary analysis of the distribution of rock art in the context of megalithic settlement of the municipality of Avis. It was carried out under the project “Território e espaços de morte na Pré-História Recente. Contributo para uma nova leitura do povoamento megalítico no concelho de Avis - TEMPH”, showing the importance of the identification of those realities, even in areas regarded as void of information, as well as within the perspective for the continuation of this study.
