PARA UMA RECONSTITUIÇÃO DO MUNDO FUNERÁRIO ALTO- MEDIEVAL DO CONCELHO DE CASCAIS (SÉCULOS VI-VII)

Resumo:
O presente artigo aborda as práticas funerárias alto-medievais no concelho de Cascais (Lisboa, Portugal). Aqui apresentam-se os dados resultantes de trabalhos de prospeção e da análise de fontes bibliográficas de cinco necrópoles, os quais integram as principais problemáticas dos estudos de Arqueologia Funerária. Assim, são tratados os fatores de implantação paisagística destes sítios, as suas formas de organização interna e os distintos
modos de construção das sepulturas que constituem estes espaços. Além disso, apresentam-se os resultados do estudo antropológico preliminar de quatro coleções osteológicas e da análise do espólio cerâmico e metálico com a finalidade de demonstrar a sua relevância na condução dos rituais funerários.
Abstract:
The present article approaches the Early Medieval funerary practices developed in the municipality of Cascais (Lisbon, Portugal). It will be presented the data resulted from field survey and from the analysis of bibliographic sources of five necropolis, integrating here the main problems of Funerary Archaeology studies. Therefore it is addressed the factors of landscape implantation of these sites, their internal layouts and the diverse constructive types of graves that constituted these spaces. Moreover it is shown the results of the preliminary anthropologic study of four osteological collections and the analysis of the ceramic and metallic assets to demonstrate their relevance in the funerary rituals’ development.
