Portugal was no exception, and along with the consolidation and evolution of Archaeology as a scientific and professional area, concerns associated with the preservation, safeguarding, and museumization of archaeological heritage appeared because of the archaeological campaigns themselves. It was in this context that the figure of the conservator-restorer gradually emerged, whose evolution, applied to archaeological goods, accompanied the development of this scientific area, especially after April 25, 1974.</p> Mariana Durana Pinto, José d'Encarnação, Eduarda Vieira Copyright (c) 2025 SCIENTIA ANTIQUITATIS https://www.scientiaantiquitatis.uevora.pt/index.php/SA/article/view/473 Thu, 24 Jul 2025 00:00:00 +0100 A Comunidade Judaica de Portalegre no Século XV https://www.scientiaantiquitatis.uevora.pt/index.php/SA/article/view/474 <div>The Jewish Quarter of Portalegre in the 15th century was a thriving community in the Alto Alentejo, composed mainly of artisan and merchant families. This study aims to explore the community and its economic life, highlighting its privileges and the complex relationships with the Christian majority. It also examines the role of the Jewish quarter as a refuge for Jews expelled from Castile in 1492, as well as discussing the historical problem of the synagogue's location and its surrounding area. Our goal is to contribute to a deeper understanding of Jewish history in Portugal, with a particular focus on the Alentejan border region.</div> Margarida Monteiro Copyright (c) 2025 SCIENTIA ANTIQUITATIS https://www.scientiaantiquitatis.uevora.pt/index.php/SA/article/view/474 Thu, 24 Jul 2025 00:00:00 +0100 CIL II 45 https://www.scientiaantiquitatis.uevora.pt/index.php/SA/article/view/475 <div>CIL II 45 was published by Emil Hübner based in a draft made by Manuel do Cenáculo, archbishop of Évora (1724-1814). This epigraphic Roman monument disappeared and, therefore, various interpretations of his text were presented. Finally, the piece was found and a better interpretation - <em>de visu</em> - of the text and his relevance became possible. This paper reports the way of this investigation.</div> José d'Encarnação Copyright (c) 2025 SCIENTIA ANTIQUITATIS https://www.scientiaantiquitatis.uevora.pt/index.php/SA/article/view/475 Thu, 24 Jul 2025 00:00:00 +0100 Notas al ara CIL II^2/13, 1398 procedente de Los Villares (Corral de Calatrava, Ciudad Real) https://www.scientiaantiquitatis.uevora.pt/index.php/SA/article/view/476 <div>The main objective of this work is to study a funerary altar from the municipality of Corral de Calatrava in the province of Ciudad Real.
