O que nos escondem as mamoas e a problemática das datações absolutas no Norte do Alentejo

Abstract

RESUMO

Este texto pretende ser uma reflexão sintética sobre o que se conhece do Megalitismo no Norte do Alentejo, com especial enfoque nas datações absolutas já disponíveis. Na sequência desta reflexão constata-se que as respostas a muitas das questões que sobre esta matéria se colocam poderão ser encontradas sob os tumuli dos dólmenes que melhor se conservaram. Estrutura-se, então, uma linha de investigação que se poderá desenvolver a partir do estudo pormenorizado das colinas artificiais que preservaram páleo-solos e que foram maioritariamente negligenciadas desde os inícios dos estudos sobre o Megalitismo.

ABSTRACT

This text intends to be a synthetic reflection on what is known about Megalithism in Northern Alentejo, with a special focus to the absolute dating already available. Following this reflection, it appears that the answers to many of the questions on this subject may be found under the best preserved dolmen tumuli. A line of research can be developed from the detailed study of the artificial hills that have preserved paleosoils and which have been largely neglected since the beginning of studies on Megalithism.
