Abstract

This article presents the results of the archaeological monitoring carried out at the Chruch of the Convento da Saudação, in Montemor-o-Novo., derived from the intervention works to safeguard, conserve, and strengthen the foundations and structures of the building. The removal of the tiles and the demolition of the adjacent buildings revealed new data patented in an omitted room and a discharge arch of the belfry, which allowed us to trace the different phases of the construction and remodelling to which the Church was subject, since its Foundation (beginning 16th Century) until the implementation of the Asilo da Infância Desvalida (late 19th Century).
