SAND: Alguns resultados bioantropológicos preliminares do projecto de investigação em Sarilhos Grandes (Montijo)

Abstract

The SAND research project aims at examining the evolution of Sarilhos Grandes (Montijo) and its population through the valorisation of the medieval/modern remains recovered during an emergency excavation. To that end, an ambitious program was proposed to the Municipality of Montijo, which included the systematic analysis of the recovered remains, new planned excavations, the creation of an Archaeology and Bioanthropology field school, scientific publications and outreach actions. The municipal funding allowed implementing the program and a better diachronic understanding of Sarilhos Grandes and its population. Although data is still being processed, some preliminary results are presented here, focusing particularly on the Bioanthropological analysis.
