Abstract

This work presents the results of the archaeofaunistic study of the excavation at carried out in 2022 in Casa Cordovil, in Évora. This site is a residential house from a noble family, resident in Évora, installed since the
16th century. The methods that we used comprised the taxonomic, anatomic and taphonomic identification to better characterize and compare our results with the data obtained from other colleagues. We identified a prevalence of mammals (mostly domestic cattle) and birds (essentially chicken) with a residual assemblage of Bivalvia. Information on the exploitation of these resources corroborates the economic potential and food preference of the inhabitants of this residence at the time.
