Abstract

Epigraphy, as an Humanities' science, is also a multidisciplinary science. The analysis of an epigraphic
document isn't only an historic analysis but it needs, really, the contributions of Geography, Archaeology, Botanic,
Geology, for example.

This paper objectifies the specific character of this science, by the study of the epigraphic roman
monuments a long time ago attributed to the Silves' territory. It's possible that, in reality, they aren't discovered
here; and also the remarkable inscription dedicated to \textit{Iuppiter Optimus Maximus,} eventually
found at S. Bartolomeu de Messines (IRCP 60), could be found in another place, because aren't there, till now, roman
evidences.
