Notas al ara CIL II2/13, 1398 procedente de Los Villares (Corral de Calatrava, Ciudad Real)

Abstract

The main objective of this work is to study a funerary altar from the municipality of Corral de Calatrava in the province of Ciudad Real. It as well-preserved limestone altar, with a crown and base. At the top are two pulvini, and between them is corresponding focus. Also, in the central body is represented a crown in whose interior space is shown the formula of consecration to the gods Manes, DMS. The iconography of the decorative elements of the altar is completed with a patera and an urceus on its lateral faces. It is, without doubt, a singular piece within the epigraphic documentation of this area of the southern Meseta of Hispania such as the province of Ciudad Real.
