Os Impactos do Édito de Expulsão (1496) na Judiaria de Évora
Keywords:
Jewish History, Edict of Expulsion, Urban HistoryAbstract
In 1497, the jews formally disappear from the kingdom of Portugal, either runaways or forcibly converted, in consequence of the Edict enacted by D. Manuel in the previous year. That meant the loss of purpose of the judiarias as a space of segregation and separation of this minority. The present work longs to analyze the impacts of the Edict of expulsion in the urban territory, adopting as a case study the judiaria of Évora, focusing on the urbanistic, morphologic, housing, and utilitarian changes happening amongst it.
