Abstract
Diagnostic surveys were carried out to investigate the presence and preservation of archaeological contexts within the scope of minimization measures requested for Herdade da Ordem (Vidigueira, Alentejo). Three of the surveys carried out focused on an area where the Order's \textit{villa} had been identified, with archaeological materials on the surface, resulting in dump levels previously described as Late Antiquity / Emiral Period. We present the archaeofaunistic analysis of a sample recovered during the surveys, composed of a group dominated by caprine, cows and pigs, with some remains of horses, leporids, red deer and bittersweet clam. Taphonomic information is scarce, but it demonstrates the butchering of animal carcasses. The results are in line with field evidence that these are landfill contexts.
