Abstract

A stele with an anthropomorphic outline, made of hydrothermal milky quartz, and recently converted into a bench placed in the public space of the village of Soalheiras (parish of Rosmaninhal and municipality of Idanha-a-Nova), is documented. Due to stylistic criteria, a prehistoric chronology is advocated for this piece. This recent find is associated with two other stelae, equally anthropomorphic shaped, found a few years ago during archaeological interventions in megalithic tombs (Poço do Chibo and Cabeço da Forca) located in the same territory. The Soalheiras stele deserves to be highlighted for the exceptional use of a hard rock to manufacture a anthropomorphic contour and symbolism.
