Alentejo e Megalitismo... Percursos de uma investigação já centenária

Abstract

The study of megalithics in Alentejo is one of the themes that, admittedly, appears very early in the Portuguese bibliography. Indeed, since the first references, still in the 16th century until the beginning of the 21st century, a significant number of people, from simple curious onlookers to the most consistent researchers, have studied these monuments, thus demonstrating unequivocally not only their importance in terms of the collective imagination of the populations, but also their importance for the knowledge of the societies that built and used them. The aim of this paper is to present some of these researchers and their contribution to the knowledge of this theme, in Alentejo.
